EPoX 5LWA+ i925XE Mainboard Review 7/7
Bluetooth 10 May 2005

Conclusion

5LWA+ is EPoX's solution for the P4 LGA775 1066FSB CPUs based on the Intel 925XE chipset. In our tests, we find the board very stable at default or even when we overclock the CPU p4 3.6E (18x200) which was not meant to run at 266MHz FSB and we successfully ran it at 267x14.

Features-wise, 5LWA+ is almost complete. You want USB, Firewire, SATA RAID, 2 GbE it is all supported on board. Something that really deserves a mention is the With the included PATA->SATA, you can use your old IDE HDD with the new SATA ports. There is also a PowerPack you will see a heat sensor, a EPoX badget, SLI bridge, SATA power connector, small heatsinks, backplate and a screwdriver. This is what I would expect from a complete package and EPoX has done it. On the overclocking options, 5LWA+ has some neat options available for the tweakers. They include voltage adjustments for DDR2, CPU, chipset (Refer to gallery for detail voltage range).

In our overclocking tests, we only managed to push the P4 3.6E (P4 560) to only 3.72G at 266x14. This is to test the stability of the board and CPU at 266MHz FSB since the chipset supports it. We tried to push it further but the POST diagnostics is quick to respond with ERROR CODE and it resets it back to 200MHz. In fact, we managed to boot at around 3.8GHz but was not as stable as at 3.72G.

Overall, we couldn't find any issues with the board. It has all the functions and is ready for your 64bits CPU.
