Conclusion

The Samsung D410C is an interesting phone for one that wants a handy camera phone. With its CMOS camera it allows one to take interesting photos and add nice addons to it before sending it via MMS. As you can see from the photos taken, the VGA (640x480) mode is good compared to earlier models. In fact, you can also take video clips and send it to your friends.

In our tests, we noticed that the EasyGPRS software, there is no way you can upload a JAVA game unless you download it off a WAP site. Another thing we noticed is that the video, when downloaded to the PC, there is no sound when playback the clips. It seems that it is because of MJPEG and this phone doesn't support 3GPP. I personally hope that new firmware might support this standard for video. 3MB for images and 3MB for the video seems a bit too low as there are no expansion capabilities on this phone via a RS-MMC card.

The 2" LCD is really cool with 262K colours. Pictures taken are so clear that you might just want to use it as the background. It is a pity that this phone is not a Symbian OS powered PDA phone, it would definitely be very interesting to own one.

During normal usage, the screen will not be lit. If you need to see the time, you would have to press the side buttons and the clock will be displayed and keypad is locked automatically when it is in slide down mode. You can still use the phone without the keypad by unlocking it (slide down mode) by pressing down the combination UNLOCK and any other key on the front panel

The ringtones are excellent. They are as loud as my Samsung S300. We transferred some 16 channel polyphonic MMF files into the phone and found it to be softer. If you intend to do that, make sure you increase the volume of the various tracks in the MMF file.

In terms of built, the D410C is sturdy. The display is clear and colours are vibrant under normal lighting conditions. The only drawback is that it will appear dim under strong sunlight especially in tropical countries making it difficult to read the contents on the screen.
