PCChips W32 (SiS755) Review (7)
Bluetooth 10 June 2004

Conclusion

If you are familiar with ECS, you should know the PCchips W32 is a similar board to the ECS 755-A2. There are some changes though e.g. S3 support according to Pcchips. W32 shares a similar layout to the 755-A2 and provides quite the standard feature set.

Performance levels of the W32 is abit lacking behind the big brother 755-A2 as the ram timings used can not be cranked any further except at CAS 2, 6-3-3. At CAS 2, 6-3-3, it is generally stable and running fast. Features wise, this board provides a FSB range of up to 232MHz and options are available for you to enable SATA RAID 0/1/10 supported by the south bridge. There is a Gigabit Ethernet controller on board which you could use it for your multimedia network applications. The BIOS is not soldered onto the mainboard.

Something nice that we found is the active heatsink on the chipset itself. Whether it is extracting enough heat or is it for decorative purposes, I will let you decide on your own. Packaging has also improved compared to the paper box previously.
