The Foxconn 925A01-8EKRS is the first Foxconn product we review here at OCW. We find the board exceptionally clear in the layout and its remarkable stability. From our tests, we noted that the performance levels are average and could be further tuned up through BIOS updates. In fact, we have an equivalent 915 board and we found that in some benchmarks, the 915 is almost on par with its 925x brother.

The board supports PCI-E, Dual Channel DDR400, DDR2-533, Ethernet, 8 ch audio, USB 2.0 and 1394 makes this board a good choice for Prescott users who just needs the basic feature set without trendy flashing lights or add on cards.

Overclocking-wise, this board has the necessary voltage adjustments for Vcore only and it is quite limited. In our tests, we only managed to run the 3.2G processor up to 210MHz at SPD (DDR2-533). You may also use the SuperStep software that comes with the CD-ROM to overclock the FSB. This software also serves as a hardware monitoring tool.

In the package, the CDROM comes with a few software utilities e.g. SuperLogo allows you to change the boot up logo, SuperUpgrade to update bios within Windows thru' internet. There is also SuperBoot for immediate bootup without BIOS screen disruption. Super BIOS protect for protecting BIOS from CIH like virus and SuperRecovery. SuperRecovery allows you to backup and recover your HDD data.

Documentation is precise and the chart that comes with the package gives you a clear view of which ports are for.

Being a 925X board, I suppose stability is more important than anything else. As this board also supports ECC, it makes it a good choice for workstations.
