Chaintech VNF3-250 NF3-250 Mainboard Review (5)
Gortok 8 May 2004

Conclusion

In conclusion, I'd have to say this board stand as one of the most OC-friendly boards I've ever used. The BIOS is more than adequate. The FSB is actually adjustable all the way up to 400! Simply a great board for finding the limits of all your OTHER hardware. I not only found the limit of my ram but the CPU as well. The board, even with it's lack of multiplier adjustment, never limited me in my overclocking attempts. It was stable in all tests...only twice failing SuperPi 32M test, only because the RAM timings were a tad too tight...

Documentation is a bit lacking. For example, the description shows FW1394, but the manual does not label/show location of the pinouts...pity. There is some sort of Safe Boot thing going on when a failed attempt shows a "how would you like to continue" type option screen. Some times, it does not...
Overall, it's definely a "keeper"

LAN was flawless. I heard no cracks or pops in audio, whether CD, DVD, or MP3. Surround sound works well and has a nice GUI for 3D audio configuration.

Pricing : USD 82~99

Pros 好处:

  • 5.1 channel audio w/game port
  • USB 2.0
  • SATA RAID
  • Vdimm, Vagp, Vcore, Vchip adjustments

Cons 坏处:

  • No fan on chipset heatsink, gets very warm
  • Do multiplier adjustment
  • Manual is Poor, can be improved
