ASRock K8S8X (SIS 755) Multiplier enabled BIOS (3)
Bluetooth 29 June 2004

Today, we received a new beta BIOS from ASrock. This BETA BIOS is an experimental BIOS and it includes two major inclusions.

CPU Vcore can be adjusted from 1.175v to 1.550v

Multiplier can be set from x4 to x19. Since I am using a 3400+, the maximum is 11x

We did a test using the new BIOS and here are our findings :-

Using the 3400+, we set the multiplier to 8x and hope for the best by raising the FSB to 266, maxmemclk is 200:166 async mode. Vcore = 1.55v, No boot at all.

We lowered it to 240MHz x 9, Same problem. We went to 235MHz x 9 and it boots but didn't go too far into Windows before it crashes. Finally, we end up with 233MHz x 9 which is most stable. 233 x 10 is generally Ok as well but not too stable. CAS 2.5, 8-3-3 ASync 200:166

I think the beta bios still has some issues, it seems that running the RAM at CAS3 200:16 helps a bit. I am wondering if the maxmemclk option didn't work as it should be. I have asked ASrock about the PCI/AGP fix, according to them, they said it is FIX at 33/66. If it is FIX, then the only problem is the memory issue. perhaps a vdimm of 2.8 might help (no such option).

You can download the Beta BIOS here and please report your findings in http://www.ocworkbench.com/asrock sector.
