Finally, we come to our last category - Gadgets. Although OCW is a site that caters to PC related discussions. New gadgets are appearing now and then. In fact, a number of mainboard and graphics card manufacturers are also going into making PDAs and Phones. In this section, we will take a look at our users' vote of the various gadgets, consoles, games etc.

Year 2003 is an exciting year with Asian phone makers leading the way (according to our readers). ASUStek scored the best among the 10 over phones voted in for consideration. scoring 14.8%. This is the first phone that has a low cost yet providing nice capabilities. The two other winners are both Samsung V200 which comes with camera functions. The third in placed is SonyEricsson P900 which is a PDA phone as well.

Best Mobile Phone

The Mobile phone are mainly from Taiwan but the cameras top 3 are all Japanese. While I do not have experience with Canon and Sony, I have been using the Nikon Coolpix 4300 for all our reviews and I find that the picture quality is very good.

Best Digital Camera

MP3 players are catching up as another gadget that most youngsters are after. The APplie iPOD 35GB seems to be the best sought after with a high percentage of votes of 81%. The other two scored 11.6% and 7% respectively.

The best console game goes to Vice City with 33.3%. The 2nd and 3rd goes to Soul Calibur II and Eye Toy with 33.3 and 8% respectively.

Warcraft 3 is the best PC Game voted by our users with 18.2%. Next is Battlefield with 14.4% and Max payne2 with 12.7% of the votes.

ASUS A620BT is a Microsoft based PDA and it scored 35.2% of the votes. This PDA seems to be well liked by many in Taiwan as a cheaper alternative to the HP series of PDAs. HP iPAQ 2215 scored 16.9% and Palm T3 the only one here which is based on PalmOS scored 16.2% of the votes.

The Best Notebook could be judged based on its lightweight, portability and functionality. From the polls itself, we can see that most of our readers are in favour of lightweight and powerful machines. 36.9% of our readers voted for the ASUS M2000N, 20.1% for Powerbook G4 and 17.2% on the Fujitsu Lifebook 6100.

The most innovative product of year 2003 is set to encourage more innovation among manufacturers to come out with exciting new products. In year 2003, there are various products that captured the eyes of our readers. Based on our users votes, the top 3 are Coolermasters Jet 7 which looks like the combustion engine of a plane. This product cools the CPU well and it scored 32.6% of the votes.

The 2nd placing goes to BIOSTAR iDEQ 200P NF3 150 which is a Socket 754 Small Form Factor Box. It is slightly taller compared to the Shuttle SFF and is capable of having 2 HDDs. It scored 30.1% of the votes.

The 3rd placing goes to Gigabyte's GO-M1600A DVD-ROM drive. This is the first DVD-ROM that comes equipped with a Radio tuner and WOW Equaliser.
