NCQ - Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST3160827A 160G with SiliconImage Sil3124 Host Controller (4)
HD Tach 3 Using the same HDD, we ran the ATTO disk benchmark using Sil3124 and Sil3112 host controller. Sil3124 is a NCQ enabled host controller where Sil3112 is the normal PCI host controller. A very interesting result is that the burst speed of the Sil 3124 is lower than the older 3112. In fact, we also test run the same HDD on a ICH5 board and we get a burst rate of 131MB/s. Again, we are looking at benchmark data of sequential access. Would random access give you the same sort of results ?
SiSoft Sandra 2004 Using the same HDD, we ran the ATTO disk benchmark using Sil3124 and Sil3112 host controller. Sil3124 is a NCQ enabled host controller where Sil3112 is the normal PCI host controller. Both scored 51Mb/s for File System Benchmark. Next we ran the PCmark2004.
