SIS 655FX Ref Board Review (3)

Benchmarking

Before we benchmark, we document the FSB the board is running at.

Do bear that in mind when comparing results of the boards as a higher FSB usually will impact the benchmarks in one way or another. The SiS 655FX boards ref speed = 202.03 which is slightly higher.

In our test, we run the 3.0 Ghz (P4 800MHZ) processor at 200Mhz FSB and with 2x256M Corsair DDR333 module at DDR400, CAS 2, 5-2-2 on the Springdale/Canterwood boards. For stability, we set the voltage to 2.7v for the DDR. On the ASRock P4i45PE (i845PE) & ABIT BH7 (i845PE), we ran it using a single stick of 512M Corsair XMS3500C2 at CAS 2, 5-2-2. PAT is enabled by default on all Canterwood boards. The SiS 655FX also runs the 2x256M Corsair DDR333 module without any problems.

From the charts, with 2 sticks of 256M, the memory benchmark score of the SiS 655FX (2-4-2-2) scores 4992/4998. This is a pretty good reading considering that it is just slightly lower than the top notch Canterwood/Springdale boards. Considering the high FSB of 2MHz, it would have a similar bandwidth comparable to most Canterwood/Springdale too.
