Overclocker 14 Jun 2003

Built In Camera picture comparison

There are so many camera phones these days, so which one has the better quality ? Over here, we will take a look at pictures taken from Samsung V200, Nokia 7250 and my Digital Camera - Nikon Coolpix 4300.

To take a photo from the camera, just click on the Blue colour button shown in the picture below. On the right, you can see the view finder focusing on the Lipton Cup. From the view finder, you can zoom in and adjust the brightness level for the best image quality.

On the first day we got the phone, we took some photos off from the TV and I was surprised by the quality. I post it here for your viewing.  (photos taken using Samsung V200)

Lets do a comparison of the image quality of the two phones. On your left are photos taken off Samsung v200 and on the right Nokia 7250.

Conclusion

The Samsung V200 definitely appeals to those who love technology. With the built in rotating camera len, taking personal photos is no longer a difficult task. With its loud 40 channels polyphonic ringtone, it makes you reluctant to pick up the phone when it rings. The colours are vibrant under normal lighting conditions. The only drawback is that it will appear dim under strong sunlight especially in tropical countries making it difficult to read the contents on the screen.

In terms of features, this phone has removed some of the goods of Samsung S300. In replacement is the camera built in. V200 doesn't support JAVA but has MMS function and camera while S300 supports JAVA but has no MMS function and camera. GPRS, IRDA is common to both. Both are tri-band so you don't have any problem using the phone abroad. Samsung has also included the software and data cable for transmitting SIM card entries and images/ringtones. This is a good move so that the user will be able to make tap the capabilities of the phone than to go and spend money downloading ringtones/images using GPRS.

The images captured from the camera appears to be of higher quality compared to the Nokia 7250. In fact, the photos taken off from the 3G phone NEC E606 is of similar quality. (check our handphone forum). The ability to zoom in/out and adjusting the brightness is something that the 7250 did not offer. If you could help us get hold of Sagem X6, we would do a test too.

GPRS configurations are also already available for Singtel/M1/Starhub all ready, thus little configuration is needed. The only change you would need is to set it to GPRS mode, default is no GPRS. Reception is good and there are no drop calls so far. The only dislike we have is the slightly bigger footprint compared to the little S300. I would recommend this phone to working professionals who needs a sleek phone which will definitely stun all your colleagues.
