Mitsubishi M320 Dual Band Phone (3)
Overclocker 13 Feb 2002

Conclusion

I have been using this phone for the past 1 month. I find it very handy and looks more professional than my SE T300. I am especially pleased with the functionality of this phone e.g. voice dial, speaker phone. The big colour screen is clear and colours are vibrant (which can't be accurately reproduced in photos, you must see it yourself). If you think that polyphonic must be soft in ringtones, the M320 will give you a pleasant surprise. It is exceptionally loud even if you use polyphonic tones. SMS is easy to use and I am sure you would love the fast entry for SMS. Phone book access is a bit laggy as it is read from the SIM card.

With its built in antenna, it looks better but reception can be a problem where the signal strength is not strong. M320 didn't have this problem. In fact, in some areas where I get 1 bar on my SE T300, I get around 2 bars. During usage, I sometimes find that I can hear my own echo from the phone. It seems to be so if volume is set to 7, lowering it might help.

Overall this phone is a very nice phone to own if you do not need MMS, Java, GSM1900 coverage. The current model M320 is now available in European and Asian Language - Chinese Simplified, Traditional. The ringtones supported are only 3 chord .PMD files which might not sound as nice as the 16 polyphonic phones out there.

Well, for approximately EURO 160 (w/o contract), this phone will appeal to working professionals that needs the functionality less the MMS, Java, polyphonic etc. From what we gathered, the data cables are not no sale in Asia region, that means you would need to invest in either a IrDA device to transfer your ringtones and background or you could transfer them through WAP sites. There is also no software that is available for transferring/sync calendar on the phone with Outlook. Mitsubishi has a WAP site http://wap.mitsubishi-telecom.com which you could download the latest ringtones, background images to your current selection and more updates to the phone can be found at http://www.mitsubishi-electric.com
