Gigabyte 技嘉 K8NNXP nForce3 150 Mainboard Review (5)
Bluetooth 12 Sept 2003

Benchmarking

We checked out Q3 running Demo001 at 1024x768x32 Hi-Quality. In this category, the SIS 748; a single channel DDR solution lost to the nForce2 platform. This is to be expected. The difference between the two boards is very minimal. It is only 0.2 fps which is hardly noticeable. In fact, what would happen if the FSB was 200.5, it would have got similar or high results. In all tests, Tyan Radeon 9700Pro is used and is running in 8X mode with Catalyst 3.2 (7.84) drivers for all boards tested.

It is not difficult to analyse from the graph that the dual channel P4 3.0C with ABIT IS7-G performs better than the A64 3200+ with a single channel DDR400. The scores are quite close with Gigabyte and ALi M1687 ref scoring 377fps. The ALi board is still a bit faster than the nForce3 board.

In 3DMark2001SE Build 330, we get a consistent score a few hundred points higher than the Dual Channel K7 monsters. Just imagine if it is a dual channel design, wouldn't that be impressive? With the new BIOS on both ALi and Gigabyte, we see that Gigabyte based on NF3 150 is just 0.8% slower. The good news is that the P4 3.0C is not as fast as the A64.

In 3DMark2003, the Dual channel Intel boards leads the way. We can see that the Gigabyte board is just 2 points away from the ALi ref board. In fact, the difference is too little.
