Gigabyte 7VT600-1394 KT600 Mainboard
Review (8)
Conclusion
Compared to its own flagship product, 7NNXP, the 7VT600-1394 does look a bit more like an entry level board as it lacks those bells and whistles like the 6 Duals. The Gigabyte 7VT600-1394 KT600 mainboard is a simple, down to earth board targetted at the end users. It has most of the features that most users will need and they include support for AGP 8x, DDR400, 10/100Mbps LAN, 6 ch audio, SATA, IEEE 1394, USB 2.0. As for performance, this board is just as good as the SiS offerings but lags behind the nForce2 boards out there in the market. Installation was a breeze. We almost had some problems trying to get the Coolermaster Aero7+ to fit as one of the sides is blocked by a big capacitor. We also tried to use different RAMs modules from Kingston, Buffalo Winbond -5 DDR modules. It performs well under CAS 2, 5-2-2 at 2.6v. There aren't any major hiccups in the rams we used. In the overclocking category, FSB can be adjusted from 100 ~ 254Mhz at 1mhz stepping. Memory Frequency Ratio can be set to run at at a ratio of the CPU. 100% = 1:1. PCI/AGP is not adjustable and fixed at 33/66 as shown above. The AGP voltage can be increased by up to 0.3v of default. DIMM voltage can be up to +0.3v of default. Vcore voltage can only be increase by 5%, 7.5% or 10% of its default voltage. In our test with AXP2400+, we only managed to squeeze it up to 210MHz FSB using SPD timings. Overall, it is quite a stable board. The price is also reasonable for a board that has most features a end user will ever need.
