When Gigabyte first told us that they have a nForce2 solution, I was surprised
as I know that Gigabyte is with ATi on Radeon. It seems that in the industry,
nothing is impossible. Although Gigabyte is a bit late to introduce the nForce2
platforms, GA-7NNXP is a well rounded product that incorporates the newer
nForce2 Ultra 400 chipset or generally known as the C1 stepping known to
overclockers.
GA-7NNXP, based on the nForce2 Ultra 400 supports
up to the latest AXP3200+ processors with Dual Channel DDR400. 7NNXP is also the
first board that supports 4 DIMM slots. This allows flexibility in the
installation of lower capacity ram sticks. (up to 3GB).
The board supports the AGP8X graphics interface (AGP
Pro slot), and also integrates the innovative Dynamic adaptive speculative
pre-processor (DASP) and HyperTransport Technology to boost the overall system
performance. The nForce™2 media and communications processor-turbo (MCP-T)
provides full communication suite of Dual LAN, IEEE 1394, and USB2.0 interface
for full range of connectivity. The Dolby Digital 3D (AC-3) audio. In addition,
Serial ATA and IDE RAID provide superior input/output performance and data
protection to the system. Gigabyte patented Dual Power System (DPS) further
enhances the computing power and system stability. The 7NNXP also support Dual
LAN port that can be applied as network gateway, managing traffic between two
separate networks and ensuring rapid transfer of data from WAN to LAN without
any added arbitration or latency. Supporting RAID (0, 1, 0+1), JBOD function and
ATA133 interface, GigaRAID Controller delivers completely solution for storage
interface to increase fault tolerance, improve data access performance and
provides additional interface for more IDE devices. The SATA can also be run in
RAID mode.
Those who are into overclocking will be glad that
7NNXP provides the necessary voltage, multiplier, fsb adjustments all within the
BIOS. There are some other goodies like the SATA external bracket which is
innovative for connecting sata devices externally.
