EPoX 8RDA3+ nForce2 Mainboard Review (8)
Bluetooth
17th June 2003

Conclusion

The EPoX 8RDA3+ maintains as one of the leaders in performance and overclockability features on its boards. Based on the nForce2 Ultra 400 chipset, it taps the power of Dual Channel DDR400 for utmost performance that needs that extra bandwidth. This is especially useful for gamers who is always on the quest for more bandwidth.

This board has what most users need and the SATA RAID makes it a better choice over the 8RDA+ if you need to hook it up to SATA HDD. During our test, we used the IDE and the disk performance seems to be the same among nForce2 boards. In this aspect, the SiS 748 boards seems to reign in the Business Applications and Content Applications benchmarks. Dual LAN makes it a good choice for running a gateway.

Overclocking wise, it has a very complete overclocking BIOS. CPU Vcore voltages can be set from Default, 1.40v up to 2.20v, AGP voltage can be set up to 1.80v, DDR Voltages are selectable up to 2.90v,
VDD can be set to 2.0v It has all the voltage tweaks, multiplier, fsb etc. Using our Kingston Winbond -5ns DDR400 at SPD, we managed to run it at 230MHz x 10 on our AXP 2400+ processor, vcore 1.7v, vdimm 2.7v, vdd 1.8v.

Overall, the board is stable throughout our tests using various dual sticks from Corsair to Kingston to Buffalo.
