Chaintech Apogee
FX71 GF FX5600 Ultra Review (8)
Conclusion As we can see from the benchmarks, the FX 71 can be considered a mid range graphics card for gamers. In terms on performance, this card is not the fastest nor the slowest. Considering the chipset which targets DX9 gamers, I find that the memory clock could have been higher to take advantage of the performance gains when memory clock is raised during overclocking. The packaging is indeed one of the best among all the cards I have seen. Chaintech again has clearly thought of goodies to be packaged in their boxes. Chaintech even included a screw driver and a monitor cleaner. That is really well thought of as we would use it quite often. Installation is rather straightforward, the only thing you ought to remember is to plug in the aux power supply for the graphics card, otherwise the graphics card will not function. The card looks very beautiful under the blue LEDs. One thing I noticed is that this card is very quiet (According to Chaintech - Noise output <28 dB). Another point to note is that if the graphics card is not heavily trashed, the fan will auto turn off. According to Chaintech, the APOGEE exclusive fan: cool from the inside to the outside. It makes use of Gas-Turbine Technology: Exclusive implement of technology incorporated in modern supersonic jet engines. With maximum air flow and pressure, the heat dissipation created by GT Technology is up to 30% more than other existing cooling fans under the same operating condition. The card is able to be overclock from 400/800 to 460/850. Although the percentage increase in performance isn't that great, but it could be due to the design which allows better overclockability of the core and the 2.5ns memory on board. Overall, if you are looking for a nVIDIA based card that does not burn a hole in your pocket, this could be one of the packages you can consider. Ratings Here are my ratings out of 10.
