ASROCK K7S8X-E SiS 748 Mainboard Review (1) Bluetooth 9th June 2003
ASROCK K7S8X-E
ASRock K7S8X-E is the first board that incorporates the latest SIS 748 chipset.
If you have been following our discussions in our forums, you should have read
that the performance levels of the SIS 748 chipset is pretty good and it reigns
in price/performance ratio. The ASRock K7S8X-E is such a board that has this in
mind -a board that provides stability and performance at a fraction of the high
end K7 boards out there in the market.
SiS 748 as we know is the latest K7 chipset from
SiS which supports the latest 200Mhz FSB processors or 400Mhz processors e.g.
Barton AXP3200+. Featuring the hyperstreaming technolgy, it allows this single
channel DDR400 solution as fast as current DDR400 K7 solutions available on the
market today.
This new
technology avoids many of the out-of-sync audio, jittery images, low frame rates
and possible packet transfer errors. With this new technology, it makes single
channel as good as a dual channel design. You can read more about the
technology at this
SiS website.
The SiS 748/963L incorporates 1 MuTIOL 1GB/s bandwidth for all
the devices that reduce potential bottlenecks. This greatly enhances system
responsiveness.
ASRock K7S8X-E looks identical to its predecessor K7S8X (SiS
746FX). In fact, it looks so similar that it might be difficult to differentiate
it unless you rip off the heatsink of the north bridge.
