M1687 K8 chipset (5)
Benchmarking We checked out Q3 running Demo001 at 1024x768x32 Hi-Quality. In this category, the SIS 748; a single channel DDR solution lost to the nForce2 platform. This is to be expected. The difference between the two boards is very minimal. It is only 0.2 fps which is hardly noticeable. In fact, what would happen if the FSB was 200.5, it would have got similar or high results. In all tests, Tyan Radeon 9700Pro is used and is running in 8X mode with Catalyst 3.2 (7.84) drivers for all boards tested. Ok. Here you have it, the ALi M1687 ref board scores 358.1fps which is pretty impressive compared to the Dual Channel DDR400 boards which reigns in the K7 category.
In 3DMark2001SE Build 330, we get a consistent score a few hundred points higher than the Dual Channel K7 monsters. Just imagine if it is a dual channel design, wouldn't that be impressive? In 3DMark2003, The difference between the boards are not so great. ALi M1687 scores 4818 which is again a pretty good result.
