Benchmarking

In Windows Movie Maker ver 2, we imported the sample file that comes with the program into it and encode it using a 1.5Mbps video WMV. Here are the timings recorded using a stop watch. From the timings, we can see that Dual Channel i865PE and i875 is definitely more superior by 12.5% against the unofficial 800mhz supporting 845PE chipset. Timings recorded in seconds (the faster the better). There is little difference between Canterwood (i875P)and the Springdale (i865PE) benchmarks. IS7-G and P4P800 both scores 41s which is faster than the unoptimised Springdales.

In terms of rendering, lightwave 3.0 is used. We used the benchmark file Radio-reflective things and rendered one frame. Here are the timings recorded in seconds (the faster the better). A score of 48.1 is obtained which is the one of the best among Springdales. It is still not as fast as Canterwood.
