SiS645DX Reference Board (8)
Overclocker 4 March 2002

SiS645DX

Conclusion

The SiS 645DX reference board shows that the performance of Pentium 4 can be further unleashed. With options to run at DDR333 officially, and an overclocked option for DDR400. It allows the users to squash the best out of your setup. From the benchmarks we did, we can clearly see the difference in results of the Q3 demo which is pretty cool. The memory benchmark results are also impressive.

In our test, we also noted that the memory timings are overly aggressive and are tuned for the Winbond memory stick which came together with the board. I tried Nanya and Micron DDR333, all failed to run properly at Ultra timings when set to DDR333 and DDR400 operation.

Overall, the SiS645DX is still in its early stage and I think that most manufacturers would be working on their 645DX products right now. Seriously, the only regret on this reference board is that it doesn't come with an ATA-133 interface. If it is, it would have increased the overall I/O performance even further.
