The Battle of Color - Sony Ericsson T68i vs Samsung SGH-T100
(3) Comparison
Talk / Standby time in ( ) is based on my estimation over 2 weeks. Conclusion / Personal Opinion So, which one would you buy? The answer lies in your needs and budget. After 2 weeks with Samsung SGH-T100, I have no qualms in recommending it as it will fulfill your basic needs with some very nice touches (nice screen, .jpg background pics, 16 poly ringtone). The 16 poly ringtone is so good (I seriously thought it's from the TV, radio or PC) that I had more "missed calls" over 2 weeks than what I had in a year. On the other hand, we have the filled-to-the-brink T68i with an amazing array of functions and optional accessories to titillate your senses to the fullest. Bear in mind that the accessories will not come cheap. At times, the major drawback of T68i is the very same thing that propels it to stardom, the 256 color STN screen. The CommuniCam is a wonderful idea but figuring out the image on the 'viewfinder' is a struggle. The screen is simply not up to it. The easiest way is to run through the summary list and decide for yourself ... what do you NEED. For example, do you need GPRS? Bluetooth? Or are you looking for a phone and nothing more ...... Pros (Sony Ericsson T68i) - The most feature-packed handset in the world - MMS, Bluetooth, WAP 2.0, GPRS etc. - Reasonably light in weight, good talk/standby time. - Unbelievable line of optional accessories - MP3 player, Bluetooth headset, CommuniCam etc. Cons - Response time not up to mark. - Dust under screen. - Ghosting due to STN screen. - Somewhat confusing interface. - Still buggy. - No polyphonic ringtone. Pros (Samsung SGH-T100) - Bright, beautiful 12 bit 4096 color screen :) - Reasonably light in weight. - Easy to understand interface. - 16 Polyphonic ringtone - Dual LCD - Fast screen response. Cons - A basic phone (compared to T68i) - Power monster! Short talk/standby time. - External antenna. - No IR port!! - Large but flat buttons. The old T68i Gallery ... if you miss it the first time round. |
