Benchmarking

We conduct the a number of tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • Intel Pentium 4 2.4B
  • Shuttle AS45GTR SiS 648 mainboard running DDR333 Async mode CAS 2, 2-2-5
  • Maxtor D740X-6L ATA133 7200RPM
  • AOPEN 40X CDROM 
  • Gigabyte AP128DG-H with default drivers from CDROM 5.13.1.6043
  • Winbond 512MB DDR333 module
  • Channelwell 375W AMD Approved PSU 

Quake 3 Demo 1 

It looks like ATi Radeon 8500 when paired up with 64M or 128M does makes a difference. A simple calculation tells us that with the 128MB version of the card, we can obtain up to a 4.2% difference in performance. At 800x600x32, we only see a gain of 1.68%, and at 1280x1024x32, the difference climbs up to 4.2%.
