Gigabyte 7VAXP KT400 Review (2)
Overclocker 24 Aug 2002

Benchmarking

We conduct the usual tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • AMD AthlonXP 1500+ and Thermoengine heatsink/fan
  • Maxtor 40G 7200RPM ATA133 HD
  • AOPEN 40X CDROM
  • MSI Geforce3 Ti200 Graphics card
  • TwinMos DDR400 256MB DDR
  • Channelwell 375W AMD Approved PSU

The BIOS we used is dated ver F4M. We ran the tests based on the best timings as indicated in the screen captures in the gallery. The tests are all done based on CAS 2, Ultra timings and Async DDR333 setting and Async DDR400. VIA 4-in-1 version 4.40.

ZD Winbench99  scores

We compared the benchmark results of the disk winmarks and noticed that the Gigabyte 7VAXP disk performance is on par with the new boards that incorporate the 8235. Something interesting is that why those older KT333 boards using 8233A south bridge performs better ??

CC Winstone 2000

Content creation 2000 measures the benchmark results of system performance when running Content creation software like Adobe Photoshop etc. It is kind of strange that even at DDR400, the performance of the KT400 boards doesn't seem to be performing too well. This seems to be consistent with the A7V8X.
