Benchmarking
We conduct the usual tests on the setup with
the following configuration :
Test System:
- AMD AthlonXP 1500+ and Thermoengine heatsink/fan
- IBM 15G 7200RPM ATA100 HD
- AOPEN 40X CDROM
- MSI Geforce3 Ti200 Graphics card
- Nanya DDR333 256MB DDR
- Channelwell 375W AMD Approved PSU
Quake3 Arena results
Further investigation was done based on two
popular gaming software Quake3 Arena. The following results are
tabulated for reference.
AthlonXP1500+
Update : We
benchmark the scores again using the latest 25 Mar 2002 BIOS. Old scores are in
brackets. We see a jump of 7 ~ 10 fps increase with this new BIOS making it on
par with the Shuttle AK35GTR v2.2.
We benchmark the board using a MSI Geforce3 Ti200
graphics card with the latest detonator 21.83 drivers. Have a close look at the
results and see how fast is the EPoX 8K3A+ in terms of real OpenGL tests.

Observing the scores, we confirmed that
something is definitely not very right about the BIOS in terms of 3D
performance. Looking at the results, 8K3A+ is surprisingly low in results
compared to the other 2 KT333 boards. In certain cases, the benchmark results is
even slower than some of the KT266A boards.
