EPoX 8K3A+ Review (2)
Benchmarking We conduct the usual tests on the setup with the following configuration : Test System:
We used the BIOS supplied with the mainboard and tested the board in DDR266 and DDR333. We took the readings off WCPUID and noticed that at both modes, the WCPUID reveals 133.64Mhz FSB. The system runs CAS 2 1T cmd Ultra for both DDR266 and DDR333 mode. WCPUID Screen Shot ZD Winbench99 and CC Winstone 2000 scores Summary Based on the AthlonXP1500+ Update : We rebenchmark the system using the latest 25 Mar 2002 BIOS (official 26Mar2002 BIOS is the same) which seems to have corrected the performance of this board. Tabulated are the results based on the new BIOS. The results in brackets below are the old results based on 12 March 2002 BIOS. We also included results for Shuttle AK35GTR v2.2. With the new BIOS, the performance of CCWinstone2000 dropped from 51.2 to 50.2 at DDR333 async mode. Looks like EPoX 8K3A+ has better performance in terms of Content Creation. A score of 51.2 at Ultra Cas2 1T cmd is really impressive. To date, it has the best scores. The results were worse; scoring 48 in the initial BIOS when we received the board. The BIOS we used for this test is dated 12 Mar 2002.
