EPoX 4G4A+ i845G Review (11)
Overclocker 20 May 2002

Conclusion

No doubt, this board has excellent performance. As we compare it to the rest of the P4 chipsets, we found that the i845G is definitely a solid challenger to the SiS645DX. The results are excellent in most categories. The on board video is all right for most applications but could not meet those demanding gamers who uses Ti4600.

For those who are thinking of using this board for DVD playback, this board has the 6 channel audio and SPDIF in/out. The only pity is that it doesn't come with media connectors for memory stick etc.

Installation is straightforward as every setting can be done within BIOS. DDR333 modules are also automatically detected and is set to operate in Async DDR333 mode although DDR333 support is unofficial for the 845G specifications.

Overclocking wise, this board has all the fsb, vcore, dimm voltage adjustments for you to set. If you are those who loves to overclock, it is easy to run your P4 1.6A at 2.1G easily. As I am using a P4 2.4B, I can only go up to 2.7G and it's not too stable at that fsb of 150.

With so many features on board and the performance is superb, it is one of the boards that you must really have a good look.
