EPoX 4G4A+ i845G Review (1)
Overclocker 20 May 2002

EPoX sends us this board just less than a week ago and we were quite delighted to see a new packaging from EPoX (as in diagram). It seems that more and more manufacturers are replacing their old packaging with new reflective boxes which looks cool under spot light. So what does 4G4A+ has to offer that differs from the rest?

EPoX 4G4A+ is a i845G board that supports the new P4 533Mhz CPU. On top of that, it comes with an on board integrated video which have been rumoured to be better than a GF2 MX200 or on par with a GF2 MX400. Well, if that is the case, this board would be a better choice than it's i845E brothers since the pricing will be that much of a difference.

We check out some of the BIOS settings and was also surprised that 4G4A+ does unofficially support DDR333 mode. We are talking about Async DDR333 performance e.g. 133/166 (266/333). Will this new setting be on par or better than the SiS645DX chipset? Well, we shall see.

EPoX 4G4A has a feast of good functions built on board and they include the ATA133 RAID by Highpoint HPT 372, USB 2.0, unofficial DDR333 support, overclocking features.

Let's take a look at the gallery followed by the benchmarks.
