Memory Benchmarks

SiSoft Sandra 2002

The infamous SiSoft Sandra 2002 is used to test out the memory benchmarks, CPU Arithmethic and Multimedia benchmarks.  All the systems are tweak to it's maximum possible settings of CAS 2, 2-2-5.

All systems are running in Async DDR333 mode except EPoX 8RDA+ in Sync DDR266 Dual Channel (2 x 256M). The FSB of the various boards are :

EPoX 8RDA+ : 133.64Mhz
ABIT KD7 : 133.39Mhz
ECS K7S7AG : 133.34Mhz

There is no doubt that the memory bandwidth of the Epox 8RDA+ is the best among all the K7 chipsets available as it makes full use of the dual sync memory modules for greater bandwidth. The VIA KT400 based ABIT KD7 is quite close. ECS K7S7AG based on the SiS 746 chipset has a lower memory bandwidth than the two other chipsets.

Using the same software, we ran the CPU Arithmetic tests and found that the ECS K7S7AG is strong in the FPU section of the tests scoring 2784 compared to 2776 and 2767. In terms of ALU, it is not as good as the EPoX 8RDA+.

Over in the CPU Multimedia tests, the ECS K7S7AG seems to outperform the rest in ALU scoring a high of 11045.
