Chaintech 7VJL KT333 Review (2)
Overclocker 21 Jul 2002

Benchmarking

We conduct the usual tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • AMD AthlonXP 1500+ and Thermoengine heatsink/fan
  • Maxtor 40G 7200RPM ATA133 HD
  • AOPEN 40X CDROM
  • MSI Geforce3 Ti200 Graphics card
  • Nanya DDR333 256MB DDR
  • Channelwell 375W AMD Approved PSU

The BIOS we used is dated 2 July 2002. We ran the tests based on the best timings as indicated in the screen captures in the gallery. The tests are all done based on 2-2-5-2 and Async DDR333 setting.

ZD Winbench99  scores

We compared the benchmark results of the disk winmarks and noticed that the chaintech 7VJL performs below average among the KT333 boards. We tested a few times and verified the results. It is quite surprising as we thought the new south bridge would increase disk performance. The boards were tested using VIA 4in1 v4.39 .

CC Winstone 2000

Content creation 2000 measures the benchmark results of system performance when running Content creation software like Adobe Photoshop etc. In the comparison, we can see that it all the boards performance varies quite a lot but within 3% of difference. Results are average among the fastest boards. As we know that CCWS depends a lot of disk performance, we see a dip in results to 49.5.
