Chaintech 7NJS nForce2 Mainboard Review (3)
Benchmarking Memory Benchmarks SiSoft Sandra 2002 The infamous SiSoft Sandra 2002 is used to test out the memory benchmarks. All the systems are tweak to it's maximum possible settings of CAS 2, 2-2-5. The chart below compares the memory benchmark scores when we run the boards at various CPU/Memory Freq Ratio at DDR333 at CAS 2, 2-2-5 as indicated in the gallery. EPOX 8K9A2+ (133.64), Gigabyte 7VAXP (133.9), ABIT AT7Max2 (133.39), ASUS A7N8X (135.29), Chaintech (134.6) The Chaintech 7NJS performs much better in 2 x 256M dual ddr266 (133/133 sync mode) than in 2 x 256 dual DDR333 async mode. When it's operating in Async mode, a lower score is obtained. This happened on the A7N8X. Surprisingly the BIOS will actually read your SPD information and set it to operate in Async DDR333 or Async DDR400 mode there by paying a penalty to performance. Yes, running in SYNC is faster than ASYNC, do notice that DDR266 > Async DDR333. If you noticed, the Chaintech 7NJS seems to perform just the same as ASUS A7N8X in DDR400 ASYNC mode. From the chart above, there is no doubt that nForce2 (in dual channel ddr) is faster than the VIA KT400 boards. |
