ASUS P4S533 SiS645DX Review (4)

Benchmarking

We conduct the usual tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • Intel Pentium 4 ES 1.5Ghz
  • ThermalTake heatsink/fan
  • Maxtor 40G ATA133 7200RPM
  • MSI Geforce3 Ti200
  • 512MB Winbond DDR333 DDR
  • Windows 2000 + SP2
  • SiS1.09 AGP driver

In our tests, we ran the at Async DDR333 modes. The first is based on P4 1.5ES at 15x100, ram async at 166 (DDR333). The second test is reducing the multiplier to 11x133 (1.46G) and run it at async 133/166 and we compare the difference of running the same processor at 133Mhz (1.46G) and 100Mhz (1.5G). We use the following software to benchmark the results.

  • Winbench99
  • Content Creation Winstone2002
  • Business Winstone 2001

ZD Winbench99

WinBench 99 is a subsystem-level benchmark that measures the performance of a PC's graphics, disk, and video subsystems in a Windows environment. WinBench 99's tests can run on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows Me systems. In our tests, we measure the disk performances in business and high end disk marks.

Summary

The results are as tabulated below. The disk marks using ATA-133 is quite good. The Business Disk Winmark99 scores well above 9000. The results are quite surprising as it differs quite a bit. The SiS645DX Ref board was benchmarked using IBM ATA-100 HD but the ASUS is benchmark using a Maxtor ATA-133 HD and yet the business disk winmark results fell instead of rise. In terms of high end disk winmark, we can see that with the ATA-133 HD, the performance is definitely much better than the ref board using the IBM ATA-100 HD.
