ABIT MediaXP (2) Overclocker 14 June 2002 The Remote Control The IR remote controller will only be functional with the WinDVD / WinRIP designed for MediaXP from ABIT. It will not work with other versions of WinDVD / WinRip nor other software DVD playback utilities. This device can also be used to control powerpoint software from Microsoft for slides presentation. Installation Installation is easy. According to the manual, the connectors on the MediaXP that needs to be connected to the mainboard are all indicated by the codes below. Below are the pictures of ABIT AT7 where the cables should be connected. Conclusion MediaXP is an innovative product designed for the multimedia freaks. With all the necessary extensions from media readers (SD/MS/CF) to USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 for data transfer and SP/DIF + mic and speaker connectors, it complements and extend the capabilities of the AT7 or IT7. ABIT also introduced a remote control for it and can be used to control DVD playback and powerpoint presentation. The only disappointment is that the MediaXP does not support the widely used Smartmedia. Smartmedia is a commonly used media for digital cameras especially those made by Fujifilm and Toshiba. At Computex 2002 exhibition, we saw another design that incorporates bluetooth support. Thus I think future models might have more support for different media type or with possible adaptors for it. Overall, this product is innovative and is definitely the perfect choice for AT7 or IT7 users. ABIT has made the right move in making their products integrating the best of multimedia. |
