ABIT BG7E i845GE Mainboard (7)
Overclocker 4 Dec 2002

Conclusion

ABIT BG7E is one the boards that has a minimal feature set. Without the hyped Gigabit Ethernet, RAID (SATA and IDE), Firewire etc. It is probably more of a board well suited for system integrators since it already comes with a video on board. This board supports the newer P4 3.06 Hyperthreading processors and definily proves that it can work well with future CPUs.  It comes with 6 channel audio and SPDIF out.

The performance of this board is mixed among all the various chipsets available on the market now. Comparing it to the 845GE boards, it does perform better if you do not consider those that are running at higher FSB. The board also uses a 3 phase power which definitely makes the board stable. This would probably help in overclocking too. The multilanguage manual is useful for those whose mother tongue is not English.

Overclocking wise, this board has 1Mhz stepping and also an independent PCI/AGP setting if you wish to keep your FSB at 133(533) and just overclock your PCI and AGP bus. Voltage adjustments are also available for Vcore, DIMM.  We are able to o/c to 150Mhz fsb using a P4 1.8A SL63X at CAS 2, 2-2-5 to 2.7G.

Overall, it is an integrated package which keeps price low and tap the performance of the high speeds CPU.
